Whether we are in samsara or nirvana depends upon our state of mind. When we fail to recognize the proper nature of mind, that is samsara. When we experience the pure nature of mind, free from confusion, that is nirvana. Samsara and nirvana are states of mind, not two separate places. The practice of quiet sitting meditation, called shinay, brings about the stability of mind necessary to experience insight into the pure nature of the mind.

Meditation Instruction
Meditation is the fundamental practice of all Buddhist traditions. Instruction in Shamata, also called Shinay (calm abiding) meditation will be given at 9:30 am Saturday morning by Lama Tsultrim Khandro and Michael Turnquist. You do not have to be Buddhist to attend this instruction, it is available to all that have an interest in learning about meditation or those interested in renewing there practice. Instruction will take approximately one hour and there is no charge to attend.
Pot Luck Vegetarian Luncheon
Please join us after practice on the third Saturday of the month as we gather together and share vegetarian dishes and enjoy each others company and community. All are welcome to attend.
Ngrondro Instruction
Ngrondro Instruction Saturday 8/27 1pm
Lama Tsultrim Khandro will give instruction on the first section of the Ngondro practce. She will teach both forms of Ngondro depending on whether you are new to the practice or are currently practicing and would like to refresh and renew your practice.
The Ngondro teaching is restricted to those who have recieved refuge. Please contact Lama Khandro ahead of time if you plan to attend. Pre-registration is required. Suggested donation is $35.
